Do antidepressants affect longevity and onset of dementia in Downs?

QUESTION: do antidepressants affect longevity and onset of dementia in Downs Syndrome?


METHODS: this was a retrospective review of 357 patients with Downs Syndrome.


RESULTS: onset of dementia was delayed by about 1 year in patients on antidepressants, and death delayed by about 2 years.
